Round tables created by Association of Students with Disabilities in Serbia

Association of Students with Disabilities organized two round tables as part of dissemination activities of project “Trans2Work”. The first round table was held on 4th of October and the second table was held on 6th of October. Round table No:1 in the framework of the EU project “Trans2Work” by ASD

Association of Students with Disabilities organized round table as part of dissemination activities of project “Trans2Work”. The round table was held on 4th of October on theme “Employment of youth with disabilities in the process of transition from higher education to the labor market”.

The round table was organized with the aim of presenting the project to interested members and representatives of youth organizations  and representatives of non-governmental sector closer to the expected results and benefits for young people with disabilities who need to be created through the project, as well as the differences and similarities of the problems they encounter in the process of hiring young people with disabilities and young people from general population in Serbia. The round table has been started with presenting the vision and mission of Association. The moderator of the meeting was Ivana Antonijević, ASD team member. Marina Lukić, from Association presented the purpose and aims of project “Trans2Work” and presented the final results from WP1 which consist of three components: The results from researchers of the needs of students with disabilities; the results from research the needs of employers, and the results from Bencmarking analyse. This results enabled good imputs for discussion that followed the presentation.

The round table was attended by representatives of National Council of Youth of Serbia, Center for development of Serbia and several youth organisations The participants exchanged of experiences and opinions about the needs and possibilities of linking higher education and the labor market, and the way how to improve the participation of student with disabilities to be more active and more involved in youth and students organisations. The logistic support in organization of this round table was EU Info Center in Serbia.

Round table No:2 “Employment of youth with disabilities in the process of transition from higher education to the labor market”. “Trans2Work” by ASD

The 2ndround table was held on 6th of October on theme “Employment of youth with disabilities in the process of transition from higher education to the labor market”. Association of Students with Disabilities organized round table as part of dissemination activities of project “Trans2Work”.

The aim of organizing this event is to get closer to interested employers expected results and benefits for employers who need to be created through the project, which will enable the visibility of the needs of employers in the process of employment of persons with disabilities and the realization of subventions. The ASD member which are involved in project presented the purpose and aims of project “Trans2Work” and presented the final results from research refers to WP1 This results enabled good imputs for discussion that followed the presentation.

The round table gatheredsignificantly number of employers and relevant stakeholders. The panelist were Dejana Kuzmić from National Association Employers of Serbia, Sandra Skumpija from National Employment Service of Serbia, Milan Janković and Marina Lukić from ASD members. Kuzmić put a particular focus on importance of breaking the Myths and legends about person with disabilities and their competences. Furthermore the discussion was about the issues of employment of young people with disabilities from the perspective of employers from IT Industry “ITekako”, pharmaceutical company “Farmalogist” which have employees with disabilities but also paid penalties, and several entrepreneurs.The participants from Belgrade open schoolpointed to the problem of professional internships and the need to improve the legal legislation in that area, generally and also for students with disabilities, and said that this is the one challenge of “Trans2Work” project.

During round table panelist, representatives from labor market, and other stakeholders exchanged of experiences and opinions about the needs and possibilities of linking higher education and the labor market, and the way how to improve the transition process of youth with disabilities to the labor market and first job.
