The project relies on the following elements:

  1. The proposed project will lead to the creation of a web portal, which will be designed to specifically accommodate the needs of people with visual impairments and their employment. The web based tool will be like but adapted for individual with disability. Employers will identify positions that are open and available for individual with disability. Simultaneously, they will also complete a structured form which will state the qualifications that a individual with disability should have to be hired in this position. In addition, individual with disability will enter the web portal and their training needs will be identified and will be matched with available employment opportunities. Thus the portal will aid in the planning of training programs for individual with disability in each partner country. The portal will make a significant contribution towards the identification of skills needed by individual with disability to achieve gain employment and will increase their social and employment mobility.


  1. The project it takes into account the three key components that are essential for the development of the transition process:
    1. higher education based learning;
    2. work based learning;
    3. connecting Higher Education and Work:


  1. Higher Education based learning includes:
  • career awareness, exploration, and counseling
  • the opportunity to complete a career major
  • organizing internships in order to help students with disabilities to gain work experience in their field of study
  • identification of specific knowledge and skills that would make students with disabilities more employable and enabling them to acquire them on the course of studies
  • transition planning to facilitate entry into additional training


  1. Work-based learning includes:
  • work experience, coordinated with the school-based learning component and relevant to the student’s career major
  • workplace mentoring by an individual who
  • instruction in general workplace competencies
  • experience in and understanding of all aspects of the industry


  1. Connecting Higher Education with Work must include:
  • matching students with work-based learning opportunities of employers
  • school site mentors for each student who serve as liaison between the student and employers, schools, educators, parents and other community partners
  • technical assistance to employers and others in designing school-based learning components, work-based learning components, and counseling and case management services
  • technical assistance to employers and other parties in training teachers, workplace mentors, school site mentors, and counselors


  1. The content of the proposed project is organized in work packages and deliverables that follow a logical development of the main idea of transition from School to Work of higher education students with disabilities especially in reference to the three aforementioned key components and the outcomes and outputs EQOPP, SINC@HE and EquiED projects.

  3. The project will try to establish a common “language” among the three partner countries in order to enhance the work mobility among partner countries.
